Promise Made, Promise Kept!!

It is an honor to serve the students, teachers, staff, and parents of Volusia County. Despite the challenges faced during the pandemic, we accomplished all of the goals set forth in 2018.
In 2018, I promised to increase the graduation rate. In 2017, Volusia County's graduation rate was 76%. In 2021, our graduation rate increased to 92.6%. Deltona High proudly earned the highest graduation rate in Volusia/Flagler County at 97%. This is the first time Volusia County has exceeded the state mean. PROMISE MADE, PROMISE KEPT!!
In 2018, I promised to expand vocational offerings in District 5. Since 2018, we have increased vocational offerings from 3 to 7 programs. New programs include HVAC, Fire & Emergency Services, Advanced Digital and Media Enterprise & Applied Cybersecurity. In addition, through a partnership with Daytona State College, students are now provided transportation to access additional vocational programs including auto mechanic, auto body, welding, plumbing/electrical and more. Promise Made, Promise Kept!!!
In 2018, I could have never imagined that the promise to keep our students safe would include the sudden closure of schools amid a global pandemic. By following the State & Federal Health Guidelines, we safely reopened schools while expanding virtual learning options for our families. In addition, we accelerated the implementation of 1:1 technology for middle & high school students. Promise Made, Promise Kept!!!
